For years, Whattya Listenin' to Wednesday has been one of my favorite online features. Where else can I compare notes with music fans of all sorts? Where else can I find out what's really cool versus what's just hyped? Sadly, but for good reasons, Ray, the feature's creator and curator, has decided to put his Metal Minute site on indefinite hiatus. So, what do we do now? Well, Ray has graciously accepted my request to keep Whattya Listenin' to Wednesday alive here at Rock and Roll and Meandering Nonsense. While my focus is decidedly less "metal" than Ray's, I hope that the eclectic tastes of the regular readers may still find a home here.
So, without further adieu, here's my list:

Otter – Did you hear Budos Band doing “Day Tripper” on that split 7″ with Sharon Jones? It’s cool. Not super cool, but cool.
Ray – Thanks very much for passing this feature along to me. I hope I do it justice. I remember that Long Distance Calling album. It’s pretty amazing and yet the bands seems to be remarkably under-hyped.
Jeff – Is Dead Weather making a tour stop near you? They’ll be down here the first week in August. I’m hoping to cover that one.
Mark – I’m glad the Dianno record didn’t kill you. I hope it’s useful for LO2E!
They’re playing in Brooklyn which is too far of a commute for me. I’ve been really lazy when it comes to concerts lately. I don’t have the motivation to travel out of the state unless it’s a show I MUST see.
Chuck – I thought you were kinda getting over SMZ a bit. Did the show change that?
Yeah, the show changed that in a big way. SMZ taps into a lot of the things that are in my head and heart right now, and the music has not only an emotional effect on me, but also a physical effect. Those albums can make me angry when I’m feeling calm, and calm me when I’m feeling angry… there aren’t many bands I’ve encountered over the course of my life who can do that.
