Taylor Swift – Midnights: I’ve spent enough time with Midnights that I know the record on a surface level and I’m starting to discover its subtle secrets. Few records pull me in this far, and I absolutely love when it happens.

Japanese Breakfast – Jubilee: Remember when you met that one person and nothing about the two of you made sense but you fell head over heels anyway and you couldn’t help but spend every second of every day with each other because you were so completely infatuated? That’s me and Jubilee.

Skinny Puppy – VIVIsectVI and Too Dark Park: VIVIsectVI hasn’t aged well for me (the production is tinny and cheesy) but Too Dark Park is as wonderfully dense as I remember. I was never into these guys for the politics, but with 30+ years of vegetarianism and about 15,000 dog walks under my belt, their cause resonates differently with me these days.

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong – Ella and Louis: I wanted to spend a little bit of time in a world where “drama,” “hammer,” and “Alabama” all rhyme.

Prince – Dirty Mind: This week, Bob and I dug into Prince’s third record. Definitely my favorite of his first three albums.
